The Gagnef Municipal Library is an operation within the Culture and Leisure Administration.

The various units collaborate to provide the residents of Gagnef with a relevant and high-quality library and cultural offering. We are six employees working in integrated public and school libraries. The main library is located in Djurås, with our largest branch in Mockfjärd and smaller branches in Dala-Floda and Björbo.

The Gagnef Municipal Library is part of Dalabiblioteken – a collaboration between the fifteen municipal libraries in Dalarna with a shared library system and website.

We are now looking for an engaged school librarian who wants to contribute to students' reading and language development in close collaboration with the school.

Responsibilities

As a school librarian, you will work to strengthen students' interest in reading, language skills, and their media and information literacy (MIL) through, among other things:

• planning and implementing reading-promoting activities, such as book talks.
• teaching and guiding in media and information literacy, including source criticism and information retrieval.
• registering users in Legimus and supporting students in need of audiobooks.
• library tours and introductions for students.

You will also be responsible for:

• purchasing, planning, and managing relevant children's and youth literature.
• collaborating with the school's educators and supporting them in finding useful non-fiction and fiction literature.
• standard librarian duties, such as working at the loan and information desk.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a pedagogical approach who enjoys guiding, supporting, and conveying information to children, youth, and adults. You are used to speaking in front of both small and large groups and express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish.

You are proactive and responsible, able to structure your work independently, and enjoy collaborating with colleagues and school staff.

Experience working in a school library is an advantage, as is a good knowledge of children's and youth literature. You have an academic degree in library and information science or another education that the employer considers equivalent. Good IT skills are required.

Conditions

The position is a permanent full-time position (100%), starting on 2026-03-01 or by agreement. A driver's license and access to a car are required. Work may occur on some evenings and weekends.

Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. A probationary period of 6 months may be applied. Since the position involves working with children and youth, a police record extract is required before employment.
